INGREDIENTS:
1 c. butter (not butter)
1 c. sugar
1 (12 oz.) chocolate chips
3/4 to 1 c. toasted walnut pieces
Whole soda crackers
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line 10 x 15 inch pan with foil, then a single layer of whole soda crackers to fit. In medium saucepan, melt butter, add sugar and boil 3 minutes. Drizzle butter and sugar mixture over crackers and bake on center shelf 5 to 8 minutes or until a rich caramel color, do not let burn. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over top and spread. Dab with walnut pieces. Refrigerate to set and cut when cooled. Makes 24 to 36 cookie bars.
