INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. butter, softened
1 lb. sugar (2 1/2 cup)
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
6 c. flour
DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder together. Add gradually to butter mixture. You’ll have to get into this with your hands. If you need to, add additional flour until dough does not stick (not too much or cookies taste dry). Chill dough 2 hours, roll out on floured board and cut with cookie cutters. Decorate with colored sugar glaze. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
GLAZE:
4 egg yolks
1 tbsp. sugar
Beat egg yolks and sugar together. Add food coloring.
