Chocolate – Covered Cherry Cookies

INGREDIENTS:
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. softened butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries
1 (6 oz.) chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk

DIRECTIONS:
Stir together flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and soda. Beat together butter and sugar until creamy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture; beat until well blended.
Shape balls into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press down center of dough with thumb. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until done.

Drain cherries, but reserve juice. Place cherry in each cookie. In saucepan combine chips and condensed milk. Heat until chips melt. Stir in 4 teaspoons of juice. Put frosting on each cherry cookie.
