INGREDIENTS:
4 c. unsifted flour
1 c. salt
1 1/2 c. water
Paints
Baking sheets and pans
Cookie cutters
Rolling pin
DIRECTIONS:
Mix thoroughly all ingredients in large bowl using fingers. Remove clay from bowl and knead by hand 4-5 minutes. Pinch off small balls of dough and roll to desired thickness. Cut out shape with cookie cutter and place on metal sheet or pans. Bake 1/2 hour at 300 degrees.
Test for doneness with fork or toothpick. A ping when hit with fork means it is done. If joint is soft, leave in oven longer. Cool claybakes. Paint and dip in clear shellac, varnish or lacquer or spray with clear fixative to make more durable and prevent air- moisture softening them. Use toothpick or ice pick to make small hole for hanging before baking.
