INGREDIENTS:
1 stick butter
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1/4 c. wine
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 c. warm water
1/2 lb. candied cherries
1/2 lb. candied pineapple
1 lb. pecans
2 lbs. dates
DIRECTIONS:
Cream butter, sugar, add well beaten egg yolks. Cream well. Add soda dissolved in warm water. Add wine. Sift flour, salt and spices together. Reserve enough dredge fruit, nuts and dates.
Add flour a little at a time, then add fruits and nuts. Fold in well beaten egg whites last. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes in 350 degree oven. Cookies are about the right size when dropped off the end of a teaspoon. Makes 12 dozen.
