INGREDIENTS:
6 c. sifted flour
1 tbsp. salt
1 lb. Crisco shortening (2 1/3 c.)
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. flour
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
DIRECTIONS:
To make cookie “mix”, mix together 6 cups of the flour, 1 tablespoon salt and the 2 1/3 cups shortening. Cut with a pastry cutter until pieces are the size of peas. This can be stored in a covered container for weeks without refrigeration.
For cookies, mix 2 cups of the cookie “mix”, sugar, baking powder and flour. Add the egg and vanilla. Blend well and roll out on floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes about 4 dozen. Decorate with different colored icing.
