INGREDIENTS:

1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
5 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla or anise

FROSTING:

Cream: 2 c. powdered sugar Warm water to desired texture

DIRECTIONS:

Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs. Mix dry ingredients. Add vanilla or anise to milk. Alternately add dry and liquid mixtures to the shortening mixture until all ingredients are used. On a clean lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and help cut out cookies. Place cookies on greased cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool then frost and decorate. Mom usually frosts and we dip the cookies in sprinkles, etc. to decorate.
