INGREDIENTS AND DIRECTIONS:
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. molasses (1 c. orange label Brer Rabbit and 1/2 c. green label)
1 1/2 c. lard
Cook until dissolved (boil 3 minutes on low heat). Cool well and add:
3 tsp. anise extract or 1 tsp. anise oil
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. soda in 1 c. hot water
1/2 tsp. salt
Blend well, then add 7 to 8 cups flour. Chill well, best overnight, roll and cut out with favorite cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes.
