Granulated sugar 2 cups
Milk 1/2 cup
Hard margarine (or butter) 1/2 cup
Cocoa, sifted if lumpy 6 tbsp.
Smooth peanut butter 3/4 cup
Vanilla 1 tsp
Quick-cooking rolled oats (not instant) 3 cups
Chopped peanuts (or your favourite 1/2 cup
nuts), optional
Combine first 4 ingredients in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil on medium. Remove from heat.
Add peanut butter and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Add rolled oats and peanuts. Mix well. Let stand for 15 minutes. Working quickly, roll into small balls, using 1 tbsp. (15 mL) dough for each. Place on waxed paper-lined cookie sheets. Chill for 2 to 3 hours until firm. Makes about 5 dozen (60) cookies.
