INGREDIENTS:
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. self-rising flour
DIRECTIONS:
Mix; cook on greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. If not icing, sprinkle tops with sugar while hot. (Roll out cookie dough on greased surface and roll mixture thin.)
BUTTERCREAM FROSTING FOR SUGAR COOKIES:
1 box powdered sugar
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash of salt
3 to 4 tbsp. milk
Sift sugar and add salt. Melt butter and add to sugar. Add vanilla and milk. Mix with mixer. You may want to add a little more milk for proper spreading consistency.
Optional: Food coloring. Recipe makes frosting for about 6 dozen cookies.
